In her picture book “Super Glitter”, Melanie Laibl tells of a magpie, a fox and a mole – and of her surprising encounter with a smartphone, in the middle of the forest.
Together with the Austrian children’s book author, your child dives into an inspiring comic world and comes back to it with its own ideas. Your child invents individual characters, spins plot threads further and creates its own book. Technically, everything is allowed: writing and drawing, gluing and crafting. These two afternoons are reserved for creativity. Super Glitter!

Melanie Laibl, born in Linz in 1973, studied translation and communication science. Today she lives in the Wienerwald and works in literature, journalism and advertising – the main thing is letters! She has received several awards for her language-playful children’s literature.
This children’s book was created in collaboration with the illustrator Nele Brönner and has been published in October 2022.
The Picture Book Days are taking place for the fifth time this year and each year wonderful works of art have been created. This year, for the first time, the Picture Book Days are bilingual – English and German. Will it perhaps be your child this time who will give free rein to their own creativity and invent their own stories? Be curious!
Super Glitter
A magpie with an eye for beauty finds something glittery in the woods. What could it be? Is it a plant? Is it an animal? Magpie, Fox and Mole cannot agree. Then – purely by chance? – an army of ants marches up. And ants, as everyone knows, have got it all sussed out. In this story at least, they know all there is to know about the big, important questions: Should we apply the ‘finders keepers’ rule? If so, who can keep what was found and for how long? And what is pizza?
