Are there ski schools nearby and how does booking classes work?
Yes, Skischule Oberlech is located directly opposite Sonnenburg just a few steps away. It offers lessons for children, teenagers, and adults, as well as group and private instruction. You can either register directly at the ski school or conveniently by contacting the Sonnenburg concierge team, who will be happy to assist with the organisation.
Do I need to bring my own ski equipment?
No, bringing your own ski equipment is not necessary.
The in-house ski rental provides the most important gear on site:
- skis, snowboards, sledges, and accessories are available to hire
- safety equipment, such as avalanche transceivers, shovels, probes, and ABS airbag packs, is also available (hire or purchase)
- ski clothing, such as ski jackets and ski trousers, should be brought with you
If you have your own ski boots, it is advisable to bring them along. Ski clothing can be purchased in the valley town of Lech if needed.

Yes, you can find a ski hire shop at Hotel Sonnenburg. The sports shop Sport Huber is situated in the basement next to the ski room with direct access to the slopes. How does the arrival in Oberlech work – especially with luggage?
In winter, you drive to Lech and park your vehicle in the underground car park Anger. As Oberlech is car-free during this time, you then travel up to Oberlech by gondola. Your luggage is collected at the arrival point and brought directly to Sonnenburg, where it will already be waiting in your room – for a relaxed arrival and a comfortable start to your holiday. In summer, you can drive directly to Hotel Sonnenburg with parking available on site.
