Good things take time. That’s why summer starts a little later up in the mountains. Our Hotel Sonnenburg is opening the summer season on 13 July 2022 and welcomes families to an unforgettable summer holiday at the Arlberg.
While it is already starting to get warmer at Lech at the Arlberg in June, trips are still a little uncomfortable due to the frequent rain and the snow melting. But in return it is all the more beautiful in July and August: with temperatures ranging from 11.5 to 17 °C and an approximate eight hours of sunshine per day, you can expect ideal weather for hiking and adventuring around. The meadows are blooming and bursting with colour, the grass is green as can be and your children’s faces will light up as bright as the sun. And wildlife is sneaking out of their hiding places and enjoying the warmth as well. Wonderful!
In September and October, summer slowly fades out and transitions into a mild and golden autumn. A clear sky and more settled weather are guaranteed during this time.
Our recommendation: we love visiting the Arlberg in September!

What is the cable car schedule
at the Arlberg?
What’s the favourite pastime of our summer guests? Exactly, hiking. Cable cars are a great possibility to make the most of your hiking experience at the Arlberg. The five different cable cars are opening at the end of June and closing at the beginning of October.

Our tip: make sure to get the Lech Card for your stay and use the cable cars for free. You’ll receive the Lech Card at the reception – even free of charge for children under the age of 14!

Our family hotel in Lech at the Arlberg is opening its doors for the summer season on 22 July 2023. From then on, we are happy to give you and your family a warm welcome! Especially appealing for a summer and hiking holiday at the Arlberg are the months of August and September – when the cable cars are running and the weather is mild, sunny and dry.
In August, it is warm enough to splash around in the many creeks and lakes in the area. Each of them is definitely worth a trip!
In September, the blue skies and clear views will blow your mind. The weather is particularly reliable in this month, which is why September is the perfect time for a hike with the whole family. Parents and teens who prefer to explore the region via e-bike, will be equally as happy spending summer at the Arlberg. They can enjoy the ride while the younger kids are playing at the children day care in our hotel.
